Finnland  -  Gesteine aus Impaktkratern 


 

Söderfjärden Lappajärvi Lappajärvi Paasselkä
 
Finnland kann eine ansehnliche Reihe von Impaktkratern vorweisen. Sie sind unterschiedlich groß, von wenig mehr als
1 km im Durchmesser (Karikkoselkä) bis rund 20 km (Lappajärvi). Mit Ausnahme des Söderfjärden sind sie von Seen bedeckt. Der Nachweis erfolgte durch Funde von Impaktgesteinen im Umkreis (z. B. Lappajärvi, Suvasvesi), durch Tiefbohrung (Paasselkä) oder durch zunächst durchgeführte geophysikalische Messungen mit anschließender Tiefbohrung (Iso-Naakkima).
Zwei weitere Impaktstrukturen liegen a. im Gebiet des Åland-Archipels, als Bucht ebenfalls unter Wasser (Lumparn) und b. in Russisch-Karelien (Jänijärvi).
